In the spring of 2009, my daughter LaLa was born. For the first time in my life, I considered how my health could affect not only me, but also the ones that I love. I realized that it was time to make some changes, and on the top of my list was my smoking habit. I had been smoking cigarettes for more than half my life, and despite knowing the obvious risks (my father died of a cancer that may have been related to 25+ years of tobacco use), I really enjoyed smoking.
One day I saw a co-worker using an electronic cigarette in the office and it sparked my curiosity. I found out that the local gas station had a little, basic e-cig kit for around $20, and I decided to check it out. I knew instantly that these little gadgets had potential and as it turned out, after some experimentation and trying higher end products, I have used a variety of personal vaporizers since 2010 and I haven’t had a traditional cigarette since.
I believe that vaporizers are revolutionizing the way that people view and engage in traditional smoking. They are cheaper, cleaner, and don’t have nearly all of the dangerous chemicals found in traditional tobacco smoke.
I can’t make any claims that these types of products will make people quit smoking cigarettes, or that electronic cigarettes can eliminate all of the risks involved with smoking. All I can say is that since I started using e-cigs/personal vaporizers, I feel that they have been a great alternative to smoking traditional tobacco products. I hope that others who are looking for smoke free alternatives, will discover that electronic cigarettes have a similar potential for them.
